Dear Colleague Letter regarding DAEP & JJAEP placement lengths during COVID-19

April 28, 2020

School district closures due to COVID-19 have created unique challenges for students and school law attorneys. That’s why we sent this Dear Colleague Letter at the end of April 2020 to ask schools to commit to counting distance-learning days for purposes of both DAEP and JJAEP placement lengths when schools reopen in August. We are also asking schools to reduce or waive DAEP and JJAEP placements on an individual basis so that students can return to their home campuses during the 2020–2021 school year with a fresh start. We are tracking district responses here.

Please email our staff attorney, Christina Beeler, at cmbeeler@central.uh.edu with questions or comments.
