Judge Dena Fisher is an associate judge in the 315th District Court in Harris County. Judge Fisher was formerly a criminal defense attorney and owner/solo practitioner at Fisher Law Office, P.C. located in Houston, Texas. Her practice focused on the defense of juveniles and adults charged with crimes, although she also represented children in the CPS system as attorney and guardian ad litem. Dena was a juvenile probation officer in Harris County for 13 years before graduating from law school and going to work at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. When she opened her law practice, she quickly became involved in working with the juvenile population again, as a defense attorney. Dena was also a defense attorney for the 313th District Court’s Gang Court Program and an attorney for the 315th District Court’s CARE Court Program, a program working with victims of human trafficking. She is the supervising attorney for the JCAP Juvenile Representation Clinic.
In addition to her work as a defense attorney, Dena is extremely involved in the community. She is on the committees of HBA’s Juvenile Law Section, Juvenile Consequences Partnership Program, and the Communities in Schools program. She also frequently does public speaking for schools, generally addressing at-risk youth and parents of at-risk youth. Dena is on the board of the HBA Juvenile Law Section and is a member of the Texas Bar Association Juvenile Law Section, Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, National Association of Counsel for Children, and the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She is also on the steering committee for the Harris County Youth Collective.
